Access to Work

Access to Work is a government scheme aimed at helping people with a disability to alter their workplace or gain assistance to make their job easier.

As dyslexia is considered a disability under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and Regulations 2003, dyslexics may be eligible for assistance through Access to Work.

Referral to Access to Work should be made through the Disability Employment Advisor at your local Job Centre Plus. Only those in employment or those with a start date are eligible for Access to Work support. Support available could be

  • Workstation assessments etc
  • Provision of necessary equipment
  • Provision of appropriate software

Access to Work is particularly useful for people employed in small businesses with limited resources.
